MtF: Femenine Self-Care for our Closeted Trans Friends
2. Wear a Sports Bra Under your T-Shirt
Either purchase one when you're by yourself or ask a trusted friend to buy/lend you a sports bra. They aren't noticeable to outsiders as they don't cause any cleavage but they can really help you feel more feminine! 3. Wear Unnoticeable Makeup Wear translucent powder, clear mascara and lipgloss, or even fill in your eyebrows if you like! None of these are noticeable when applied subtly, but will help you feel less masculine. 4. When in Private Wear Noticeable Makeup If you are left home alone for long periods of time, feel free to wear noticeable makeup. Use your own if possible, or borrow your mom, sister, or friend's makeup. 5. Care for Your Nails Let your nails grow out a bit, I promise nobody will mind or even notice. Develop a nail care routine; use coconut on your cuticles and shape your nails with a file. This is a great way to pamper yourself without others noticing. 6. Give your face some love! Take good care of your skin -shave, wash your face twice daily (in the morning and at bedtime), exfoliate, wear sunscreen during the day and a moisturizer at night. In the long run, your skin will grow softer, smoother, and nicer to the touch. 7. Shave Although you may not be able to shave where noticeable, you can always shave where the sun don't shine! Shave your pubic hair, armpit hair, upper thigh hair, and facial hair to really help feel less masculine. After shaving, apply a lotion or moisturizer to avoid rashes and dry skin. 8. Take a Bubble Bath Must I elaborate? I will if I must. Bubble baths are so incredibly nice and you can get lost for hours just relaxing. I recommend reading or watching your favourite show in the bath. 9. Make some DIY Beauty Skin and Hair Care Products I found this great list of DIY skin pampering that you can definitely make from things in your kitchen. I also really love these DIY hair masks that I've actually tried a few of before. My personal favourite is the avocado mask, as it made my hair very silky and soft! 10. Make a DIY Gaff A gaff is used for "tucking" which reduces the appearance of a penis bulge under clothing. Find out how on this lovely woman's blog! The images are a little dark and blurry, but the directions are very easy to follow. BONUS: Watch Some Damn Cat Videos Not even kidding. Cat videos are the best thing. The cutest cat on the planet is LIL BUB. He's the cutest lil' guy you'll ever see and I promise you will not regret watching. Now go out and be the beautiful girl you are! I love you so much, stay alive. -Tyler Sources: -Barnes, Jennifer, and Marnie Soman. "Make Your Own Skin Treatments." Good Housekeeping. N.p., 15 Jan. 2016.
